Corporate Citizenship
MainStreet Advisors recognizes and values the importance of giving back, and to that end our employees are actively involved in a variety of charitable organizations.
As a firm, MainStreet Advisors’ employees regularly volunteer their time and resources to A Just Harvest community kitchen. A Just Harvest began as a ministry of the Good News Community Church (UCC) in 1983 and began serving meals a few days per week in the "North of Howard" neighborhood of Rogers Park, on the farthest northern border of Chicago. Today, with the help of more than 30 partnering congregations and community organizations, it is the highest capacity community kitchen in the metropolitan Chicago area and is the only community kitchen that serves a hot nutritious meal 365 days per year.
Additionally, MainStreet Advisors recently participated in the JP Morgan Chase & Co. Corporate Challenge which was held on May 26, 2011. The final count of 2011 entrants was a spectacular 23,374 from 635 companies. It was the largest number of companies to ever participate in Chicago, breaking the previous record of 629, set in 2008.
The JPMorgan Chase Foundation made a donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Food Depository can purchase food for approximately one-third less than the average consumer, so contributions have a direct and effective impact. This year’s Corporate Challenge also raised awareness for Chicago Run, an after-school program which prepares Chicago Public School students to run in a local 5k or 8k race utilizing a training program that incorporates nutrition and team-building activities that promote a deeper understanding of community and diversity.
MainStreet Advisors partners with clients in support of shared initiatives, and through this partnership our collective impact is great. Members of our firm recently teamed up with one of our clients to assist the Navajo Ministries in Farmington, New Mexico. Navajo Ministries serves people, primarily the Navajo, in the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Since 1953, the Navajo Ministries have helped meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of Navajo families and children. Our support helps build a future for Navajo families through programs that establish self-sufficiency, resilience and Christian family values.
MainStreet Advisors is also committed to environmental preservation and has made contributions in support of Trout Unlimited. Since 1959, Trout Unlimited has worked to conserve, protect and restore North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds. They have protected more than 10,000 river miles nationwide and pioneered new scientific, legal and legislative tools to make America’s rivers cleaner and healthier. With the support of MainStreet Advisors, Trout Unlimited is able to improve streams and waterways across the country.
MainStreet Advisors proudly offers its employees a matching gift program. The matching gift program is open to all employees and is intended to recognize and support the important work of nonprofit organizations.
