In this position, he is responsible for engaging and educating both financial advisors and their clients about current and emerging opportunities in the financial services marketplace. 8,000 Days: Envisioning Retirement in a New Way

With today’s rising lifespans, we could be facing roughly 20 or more years in retirement, which is approximately 8,000 days. Once thought of it this way, it becomes clearer that retirement is not an end, but rather a new, complex, and unknown phase of life, during which so much could happen. Instead of planning for ‘retirement’ as a single state, it may be beneficial to reframe the conversation to reflect a four-phased concept of retirement.

Each is characterized by the tasks and issues individuals are most likely to be managing. This session will shed light on four retirement phases and will outline a clear vision to plan and anticipate what is likely to come.

Fixed Income Investing Outlook

Given low yields, reasonable global growth, and attractive valuations for credit instruments, investors in recent years have added exposure to a broad array of income-focused fixed income strategies. However, we believe the approaches to fixed income investing that worked over the past five years are unlikely to work going forward.

In this session, we examine the volatile nature of global fixed income markets and the challenges asset allocators face in such an environment. We also evaluate the pockets of opportunity within various credit sectors and general solutions that should be considered in today’s dynamic markets.

Bitcoin, Blockchain, Baffled? Understanding Cryptocurrency

Is Bitcoin money? What is its relation to the more than 1,500 other cryptocurrencies out there? Should you own this stuff? Will you be paid in it someday? And what does blockchain have to do with any of it? The birth of Bitcoin during the financial crisis opened a new era of possibilities for cryptocurrency and blockchain applications.

In the Nakamoto white paper, there are basic insights that laid the foundation for recent developments in crypto markets. It also set the stage for many other applications of distributed ledger technologies. This session will provide an overview of these issues and how they are important for those hoping to participate in the next wave of innovation.

Are You Ready for Maximum Pressure?

Global multipolarity has been laid bare by the end of America’s magnanimous hegemony. The Trump Administration is looking to “Make America Great Again” by pursuing a hybrid realist-nationalist foreign policy. Sometimes this policy will surprise with objective successes – North Korea – and sometimes it will lead the U.S. into new “quagmires,” e.g. Iran.

This session will examine what’s ahead over the next 12 months. Marko will share his insight into how investors will have to adjust to the new reality that a populist, nationalist, administration in charge of the U.S. Domestic assets will remain well insulated from the chaos beyond America’s two oceans. After all, the U.S. has benefited from almost every global conflagration in the past. Beyond the 12 months, however, the future for the world’s last Empire is murky. Investors with long-time horizons should start looking to diversify.
